Fish Curry

Every bengali loves fish and it good for health. Fish curry is very delicious and an easy recipe. Try this and serve it with rice.

Fish Curry



Ingredients 

  • White Fleshed Fish (800 gms)
  • Turmeric Powder (1/2 tsp)
  • Salt 
  • Oil
  • Coriander Seeds (1 tbsp)
  • Cumin Seeds (1 tbsp)
  • Ginger (1/2 tsp, finely grated)
  • Red Chilli Powder (1/2 tsp)
  • Water (1.5 cups)
  • Kalonji Seeds (1 tsp)
  • Red Chillies (1 to 2 whole)
  • Bay Leaf (1)
  • Onion (1 large, peeled & cut)
  • Green Chillies (3 whole)


Instructions 

  1. At first cut the fish in about 4cm size. Rub turmeric powder and salt to the fish and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium flame and add the fish pieces and fry until golden brown.
  3. After that make a paste of coriander seeds, cumin, ginger, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and 3 tbsp of water.
  4. Then add oil in a frying pan and heat it over a medium flame and  add kalonji seed,  red chillies and bay leaf. 
  5. After few seconds add onion and fry stir and fry on low flame. 
  6. Then add the spice paste and stir & fry them for 1 to 2 minutes and then add the fish in a single layer in a pan with 1 cup of water.
  7. Now add green chillies over the fish and simmer over a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Then cover the pan and cook the fish for 15 to 20 minutes then serve with rice.
